"Mordern Chess Academy started its journey in the year 1998. Since then we are dedicated into chess coaching and organised several chess tournaments on regular basis. We have sent number of talented chess players in different chess tournaments like district, state, national championships and different state level open and rated chess tournaments. Presently we have 80 students who have already proved their exellence in chess. This academy is a Govt. registered body and all of its class rooms are fully air conditioned. The organisation held Annual General Meeting (AGM) every year since its foundation and proved its faith by submitting audit report to the society registration office."

"As chess enthusiasts, we always wanted expansion of this game in new areas, and to bring more people into it. In Hooghly District of West Bengal, the District Chess Association was established in the year 1978 by endeavour of Dr Budh Kumar Mishra and Mr Mukunda Sarkar. Till the year 1998, there was a gap of quality chess tournaments, where players of various geographic region can participate. At that time, for young students, there was no institution anywhere in West Bengal outside of Kolkata, to learn arts and science of competitive chess. We decided to fill the gap, for development of chess in this geographic region. We contemplated to establish an institution, and with tireless efforts of the then Chief Coordinator Mr R C Chatterjee, the then President Dr Samir Mallick and the then Secretary Mr Srish Chatterjee, Modern Chess Academy was initiated in 1998."
